1. Inspect Appearance and Texture:

ØFlatness: High-quality ceramic fiber boards should have a smooth, flat surface without cracks, bulges, or delamination. The surface sanding accuracy is higher, means the board quality is better.

ØColor:  The cross-section of the board should show a uniform beige color. If the cut surface appears black, greenish, or has mottled spots, it may indicate the board’s raw materials have some recycled materials, which warrants caution.

ØDust and Edges: When gently breaking the edge of the board by hand, due to its uniform density, a high-quality board should not produce a large amount of powder. The broken section should show a dense fiber distribution.

2. Verify Key Performance Indicators:

ØRequest Test Reports: This is the most direct and authoritative method. Be sure to request test reports from third-party authoritative institutions from the supplier. Focus on verifying key indicators such as thermal conductivity, compressive strength, and permanent linear change on heating to ensure they match the product claims.

3. Conduct Simple Tests (If Conditions Permit):

ØWater Absorption Test: Soak a small piece of the board in water for 24 hours. High-quality ceramic fiber board should have very low expansion thickness and water absorption rates (typically≤5%). Significant bulging or deformation indicates this board’s poor water resistance and moisture resistance.

ØHammer Tapping Test: Gently tap the board surface with a rubber mallet. A clear and uniform sound indicates the board with a dense internal structure without delamination. A dull or hollow sound may suggest its internal has defects.
